At one time many of the playing cards used in casinos around the world were made in the Kansas City metro. Millions of playing cards were designed and manufactured by Gemaco at its plant in Blue Springs, MO.
In 2014 Gemaco was acquired by Gaming Partners International which was later acquired by the Angel Group (dba Angel Playing Cards) out of Japan. The Blue Springs facility was closed in 2020 and according to the Angel Group website, its North American cards are now made in Mexico.
